I think that a common problem is that the situation is often seen as a fantasy. One does not see important issues. These are hidden by the "and they all lived happily ever after". So when a trivial issue is met, it is perceived as a train wreck. The fantasy falls like a house of cards. "I'll never do that again" takes the stage. So the lifestyle never becomes common place. It remains hidden behind a kinky curtain from society.
