There is private chats and you can make a chat with multiple people bit there is only threads on this site

Hit three bars top left corner then select chats.
It takes you to a public chat. But it’s not really used. As traffic here isn’t in large quantities and seldom is everyone on at same time. So the forum and private messages option seem most popular.
