I'm designing a Saint Andrew's cross.
I have never seen one in person, and I'm not experienced in bondage. I'm just designing it for now. In saying this, I need experienced people's opinions on the bondage part.
Should I use velcro, rope, leather cuff and buckles?
Since I'd be strapping a large man in this thing, it'll have to have a metal skeleton with wood covering it. Any advice from an experienced person will be appreciated.

First u need to think on safety, fast release for everything. A metal slider on every thing that ull tie on that lucky guy sosuld be enough for fast release.

Make sure it wont fall down, so securing it to the wall or a sturdy stan whould work.
Also, having arms up for an extended period of time could lead to numbness due to insuficcient bloodflow, so adding a little movement to arms should be fine
And, if u are skilled enough to make it adaptable, maybe u can fit a not that big of a man or even a woman.

4x4s or 4x6s and the back leg out of same will be plenty support. No metal needed if crafted correctly. Bolts and nuts with cuts to seat the cross portion better. The main weight is seen leaning back on the third leg. Even if he dead weight hung by the cuffs it is tilted back so it shouldn’t matter.

Choose large width restraints. Like leather cuffs with buckles and felt backing. Not sure what your budget is.

If I ever build it, It would be built for 1 person only, so the specifications of height and width will reflect his size alone.

Price isn't an issue. I'm very skilled in wood working and quality matters. I lack alot of knowledge with bondage and if I ever get my way, I want to do it right the 1st time.

Ok then woodcraft skills are good. Another option is old school timber framed approach drilled hole and wood pegs to fasten it. Looks good too.

Bondage key would be not having too narrow and forcing too much small area pressure on wrists
