Here's a little hint for clue 1 in case anyone is still curious about it: the answer to the first word has been guessed already, though not necessarily in relation to clue 1. Word 2 is staring you in the face, but check your spelling.

The answer is 2 separate words, i misread your comment earlier. Word 2 does not influence word 1, however the 2 words join to make one 2 word phrase. So the man's hands have nothing to do with the clock, hopefully that helps
