I've read a lot of threads that ask as to how to get started with BDSM and kink safely. I looked around a lot when I was new. When I started off, I did not know where to go because I started on how to explore kink alone.

A really good book that I found online is Kink ME Please! I highly recommend it. I found it on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKB6Q95R

Speaking of books. I've not been able to find anyone IRL that's truly into this lifestyle. In saying this, I'm thinking of using this list of books to test the waters.
- A Table for Three
- Damaged Goods
- Innocence Defied
Written by Lainey Reese
- The Gentleman Mentor

In my professional life, having a kink would destroy my reputation. I think when talking about books, just bringing up these authors to check the response might help.
Any suggestions on testing an average person, With Plausible Denyability, if their into this lifestyle?

Mistress,
The 50 shades books are a mainstream way to begin a conversation on the topic.

Fet has some solid book lists in the newbs group that is ever growing. Non fiction ones and direct subject related as well.
Newb group, FAQ section, resources for the newb.
