Kind of an odd question or more to the point of obvious, but why was this thread not lock up if it is this old?

A fair question and the answer is there isn't automatic expiry and locking of old threads, its a totally manual process.
In a lot of case an old thread can be revived or kept going even if the original poster is no longer active. This happens if the thread is of a general discussion type ( a good recent example was the humiliation vs degradation discussion) where the input or response of the OP isn't needed.
However in cases such as this of a member requesting information, help, tasks, etc there is no point at all in responding. This is simply lazy fishing for contact, further evidence is the poster failed to read the original message requested pm's NOT kik.
